News doesn’t need to print test results

The News has published many articles recently about the controversy surrounding the state standardized tests. I do not understand why, the week of the English language arts test, The News would print a front-page article about the area’s private schools topping the state tests results.

I teach at one of those high-performing schools. We are proud of our students’ accomplishments. But surely, it is demoralizing to the students and teachers of the low-performing schools on that list to see their results printed now. I know that the teachers and students in those schools and in the public schools are working just as hard to attain proficiency in the standards.
