Let cable customers choose their channels

It comes as no surprise that The News sided with A&E in the “Duck Dynasty” controversy. Let’s grant the point that A&E has the right to suspend Phil Robertson to protect its interests. It should follow then that the American people have the right to reject A&E. However, this is not possible unless you reject cable altogether.

This is a shining example of why we need “a la carte” cable rules in this country. I am tired of paying for hundreds of channels I don’t watch, much less channels that patently offend me. If A&E is so sure it’s right, give cable customers the opportunity to keep it or cancel it as they see fit. Then we’ll see if A&E is actually protecting its interests or pandering to the loudest special interest group.
