GOP obstructionists are harming America
One definition of treason is “violation of allegiance toward one’s country or sovereign.” It is most often expressed as giving aid and comfort to the enemy.
For instance, those who paint Edward Snowden as a traitor echo the claim that because of his indiscretion in revealing secrets, American lives have been lost and many more are yet in danger. Of course, we can’t be sure how many American lives have been lost or are in danger by keeping those “secrets” secret, because it’s a secret.
Then there’s Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. Rumor has it that this soldier abandoned his post. Before getting all the facts, most Republicans believe we made a mistake in trading Bergdahl for the Taliban’s equivalent of the Pittsburgh Steelers “Steel Curtain” of 1975. I’m sure all those who have stated that Bergdahl wasn’t worth the trade might feel differently if it was their son or daughter in captivity.
Those in Congress who refuse to give allegiance to our twice-elected, sovereign president by deliberately attacking and opposing him at every opportunity are, by definition, engaging in treasonous behavior. Only the blindness of partisanship can ignore the reality that the scandal-obsessed Republicans in Congress are providing aid and comfort to our enemies by distracting President Obama during these dangerous global times. This historic do-nothing Congress is inadequate, shameful and ultimately dangerous to our national security.
