Gay marriage is not wrong, contrary to writer’s opinion

I am writing in response to the Aug. 13 letter “Many people believe gay marriage is wrong.” I believe radical Christians are trying to deny equal protection under the law and are trying to force the goverment to promote their religious rules.

The letter writer states “their lifestyle should not be forced upon us in television and movies.” You have the right not to go to that movie, or get up and change the channel. Just like I have the right not to answer the door when someone comes uninvited to my door trying to convert me.

The basic rights and freedoms to which all human beings are entitled include equality before the law.

Our constitution was designed with the protection of everyone in mind, not just Christian heterosexuals. Everyone should have the right to happiness and to live, love, and worship any way they choose. And yes, I think Jesus would approve.
