Elected officials need to show some leadership

As a longtime news and political junkie, the never-ending delays in the decisions to approve or disapprove the Keystone pipeline at the federal level and oil and gas well fracking at the state level help me understand why the majority of our population does not bother to vote. Whether you are pro or con on the issues, the lack of leadership observed makes you wonder why you bother to follow the developments (or lack of), and further enhances the negative perception of government and politics that many citizens have these days.

The substantial amount of data that has been made available via The News and elsewhere clearly makes it appear that politics rather than policy has taken precedence and corrupted the decision-making process. These are significant energy policy issues that will affect all of us. Are our elected leaders able to demonstrate profiles in courage? If not, resign and let someone else have the opportunity.
