Constant calls for charity can border on harassment

I have charities I donate to on a regular basis. Since I retired, I have had to narrow my donations to five organizations.

I got a private line for a reason. I do not appreciate that our lawmakers have allowed my number to be given to any and all organizations to call for donations.

Organizations seeking donations now employ professional fund-raisers. These individuals talk over you, don’t take “no” for an answer. They don’t let you get a word in edgewise. Enough!

Instead of paying money to these fund-raisers, use these funds to support the individuals or groups you are trying to help.

I feel the principle behind having an unlisted or private line should be upheld. The law needs to change. I will willingly keep giving and supporting the charities I choose. I want calls that come any time of day to stop!
