Community has lost a compassionate leader
Our city lost a wonderful, caring, loving lady, Mary Thomas. She was a simple woman who wore many hats in many different arenas. Mostly her work consisted of helping children all over Buffalo, but especially inner-city kids. She had an influence on generations of women who were trying to find their place in a challenging society when it comes to differences in others.
She made many of us feel and know that we were fine just the way we are. This was evident by the hundreds of people who attended her funeral – generations of people she helped. Her service was like her: loving, simple, humble and caring. The lives of so many have been enriched by this beautiful lady. Thomas is a role model and mentor. Many of us will continue to implement the things she taught us as we go through the rest of our lives.
