Collins’ vote to reduce military pay is shameful
Shameful. Congressman Chris Collins voted for the recent budget bill that will keep the government running for the next two years. It’s not the best bill, since it will increase spending and only promises to make cuts in the future (a promise that probably will not be kept).
But the shameful part is that Collins voted to get the money for his increased spending by cutting the retirement benefits to retired military under the age of 62. No other group, none, had its retirement pay cut, just the military. Members of the military were given promises for their retirement and Collins broke that promise and voted to cut their pay.
He should have voted no unless retired military was either left alone, or all federal employees had their retirement pay cut, including his.
