Cold-hearted response to a homeless person

I was stunned to read the article about the homeless man whose presence was “making some church members uncomfortable” in Westfield. When I was being raised, I was told that a church was a place of sanctuary if I was in trouble. These people should have welcomed the homeless fellow with open arms, taken him in, cleaned him up, given him a hot meal and found him refuge!

Instead, they build a shelter resembling an upscale doghouse and make the homeless people sleep in the yard so these “Christians” can sleep with “clear” consciences.

I guess one must reside in a much less than a “… very Norman Rockwellesque” environment to experience the “real world.”
