Christmas Eve column was a treat for readers

The Buffalo News on Christmas Eve morning held a special surprise: Veronica Hogle’s My View column magically transported us to 1940s and ’50s Ireland, as she and her family celebrated this festive holiday.

I couldn’t help but wonder whether Hogle realizes what a wonderful writer she is. You felt like you were experiencing first-hand all the preparations for the big day. You could picture the sparkling-clean cottage, warm and cozy as the wind bristled outdoors. And the friendliness of the townspeople as they gathered to worship, only matched by the closeness of the family as they joyfully wrapped up the day.

It was a delightful treat for Hogle to share her memories with us. I hope we were all able to build happy memories this year.
