Athletes should focus on studies, not unions
The April 10 letter, “NCAA needs to address college athletes’ concerns” was way off base.
Unions? The writer is confused. College, like high school and grammar school, is for learning. This talk of unions is taking this to an area where our schools are nothing more than a farm club, a minor league destination where education is second to sports.
College is for education and it shouldn’t be a “farm team” for the NBA or NFL. Most of the athletes are prima donnas and have to get tutors to pass.
Unions are for bona fide jobs, not school systems. Let’s get real! If you happen to play sports and excel at it, that’s dessert to the main course – learning!
