Tea party’s tactics are nothing short of treason

As a registered Republican, I must voice that what the House of Representatives and Speaker John Boehner are doing to the American political and economic systems is unconscionable.

The fact that the Republican leadership has stooped so low as to put our nation’s economic future in harm’s way to leverage the president and the Democratic Party boggles one’s mind. No “patriot” would do such a thing, and these tactics are nothing short of treason.

As quickly as possible, Boehner should be impeached for treason against the American people. No one person or group has done more to harm this nation’s economic and political systems since Osama bin Laden on 9/11. We don’t have to worry about terrorists destroying our way of life; we have Boehner, our new dictator.

Since the Constitution was ratified in 1789, rule of the majority has worked, but Boehner and the tea party think they are better than that system. They are jeopardizing our way of life using the budget, and soon the debt ceiling, to get their way. This needs to stop now. The House needs to vote on a clean spending bill without conditions.

The Affordable Care Act is law! It was approved by the House and the Senate, signed into law by the president and upheld by the Supreme Court. If this law is so flawed, then let it fall under its own weight – not because it was circumvented by the egos of Boehner and the ultraconservatives who are willing to gamble with our way of life just to get their own way.

When one’s ego and drive for power becomes more important than our nation itself, that’s treasonous. We must stop these tea party Republicans before they destroy our great nation and all that we stand for.
