Show some patience around school buses

Going back to school means preplanning and a little extra patience for all drivers. For the safety of the children who ride buses, it is important that drivers follow the law and slow down, stop and wait while the children are seated on the bus. As a working parent, I know how precious those five minutes are when you are running late for a meeting, but honking car horns while the bus driver settles children will not expedite the process. Yelling obscenities at parents who have just put their children on a bus is not a classy or positive start to anyone’s day.

I know it is frustrating that the morning commute down residential streets can take slightly longer with children boarding buses, but it is possible to avoid the commotion by leaving a few minutes earlier or taking an alternative route. For the safety of our children, please take this into consideration when planning your morning drive.
