Medical marijuana story compared apples, oranges

While I realize that the Dec. 3 News article, “Area mother joins fight for medical marijuana,” was trying to show opposing sides of an argument, I found it incredibly disrespectful and irresponsible to compare an educated and well-researched mother with an immature teenager.

Medical marijuana under the watchful eye of a physician versus the bad decisions of a teenager is comparable to apples and oranges. I respect Sydney Drowning for finding her way out of her drug-induced tailspin; however, The News owes an apology to Wendy Conte, who is desperate to find a less invasive therapy for her daughter.
