Davis departs

Brian C. Davis, the former Ellicott District member of Buffalo's Common Council, took a long time leaving. Even after he pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors regarding misuse of campaign funds, he clung to his seat, leaving only after his colleagues shoved him.

Germany’s 20-year celebration of the fall of the Berlin Wall reminds me of my first visit to that city in 1961. It was also my first visit back to West Germany after my emigration to the United States just a few years earlier. Berlin was then located in the midst of communist East Germany, but was accessible by train.
