Kidnapping excuse falls flat, years later
In a short Associated Press piece published July 1 in The News, former CIA agent Robert Seldon Lady asserts that he is not guilty of kidnapping an Egyptian cleric in Milan, Osama Moustafa Hassan Nasr, in 2003 because he was only following orders. Lady needs to read a little more history.
Following orders was thrown out as a defense during the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials following World War II. The allies hung several German officers who were only following orders.
Kidnapping is a crime, and Lady just might have to pay the price for blindly following an illegal order.
