Gillibrand, the mom, works hard for families

Story tools:

It is so refreshing to see proud mother and U. S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand calling for the government to test commonly used baby products, after a study revealed that many popular brand-name items contain cancer-causing substances.

Her legislation, the Safe Baby Products Act, would require the FDA to investigate by testing the products and report its findings. It is an issue I, surprisingly, have heard little else on.

Since entering office, Gillibrand has continued the hard working tradition of her predecessor, Hillary Clinton. Her first bill was a proposal to eliminate the $25 fee charged to single parents who seek enforcement help collecting child support. And she has released proposals for making day care more affordable, backing legislation that would double the Dependent and Child Care Tax Credit.

Sometimes, it just takes a mom.
