Committee is pleased with coverage of Wall
I have seen criticism of The News regarding coverage of our American Veterans Traveling Tribute presentation at Knox Farm State Park. The event included tributes to World War II, Korea and all veterans up to Iraq and Afghanistan. The centerpiece was an 80 percent replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D. C. The criticism was that there was more coverage of Michael Jackson’s death than of veterans.
I am the chairman of the Wall Committee that hosted the event. We are very pleased with the coverage we have received. There has been front-page coverage, half-page ads promoting our display and several follow-up reports as well as photos on the picture page. The News has been a media sponsor. The Jackson story has national interest; our display is a regional story. I am a Vietnam veteran and understand the frustration that many people have regarding our nation’s priorities. The News is reporting stories that people want to read about.
