Keep historic canal site open during concerts
It was great to see the concerts at Erie Canal Harbor on June 26 and 27, but it was unfortunate that during the concerts the historical ruins site at the canal was closed to visitors. This is rather surprising since all it would take is moving one gate, from the sidewalk access to the site on Scott Street to the area directly adjacent to the Central Wharf, in order to keep this important historic site available during paid concerts.
If I were an out-of-town tourist visiting the area, I’d be very disappointed to not be able to see the historic canal site because of a paid concert. As a Buffalonian, I was saddened that I couldn’t visit the site those evenings. While I applaud Buffalo Place for putting on such concerts, in addition to all of the free events it’s running at Erie Canal Harbor, it would be a simple matter to keep the historic canal site available to visitors during concerts at Canal Side.
