WNED-TV and Falletta created musical magic
WNED-TV’s idea to feature Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra Music Director JoAnn Falletta as host for Channel 17’s “Berlin Celebration Concert” on Aug. 3 was brilliant. Falletta aced it. Buffalo has a star. She walked down that winding staircase in her glamorous evening gown and it was “wow!” She looked at the TV audience and welcomed us into the rarified world of conductor Leonard Bernstein at his historic 1989 concert commemorating the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Falletta has the stage presence, looks, voice, charisma and music credentials. The fact that she studied under Bernstein at Juilliard made it authentic as she told us what to expect at this concert. WNEDTV pulled off a blockbuster with Falletta. I hope it keeps the fireworks coming: more Falletta-hosted shows.
