Writer misses the point Clinton allies are making

Story tools:

The recent letter about Hillary Clinton’s supporters’ reaction to Barack Obama’s nomination missed any point we have tried to make. First, implying that her supporters are of one gender, female, is needless to say ludicrous. The argument that we were not dealt an injustice disregards the facts.

It is not an easy blow to take that, due to the Democratic Party’s corrupt nominating system, the voices of two states (Florida and Michigan) were cut in half. Delegates also are rewarded in a way that opposes the electoral college of a general election, rewarding more delegates for less populated Republican states and fewer delegates for larger general election swing states. And, ultimately, the nomination of the party was allowed to be decided by party elites like Nancy Pelosi.

It’s also nothing to complacently acquiesce to when one examines the cases of both candidates, with their won votes and delegates, before the superdelegates gave them the “win.” Clinton won more votes, and consistently polled to do better in crucial November swing states. Obama won fewer votes, polled more poorly in swing states, but promised to raise the party obscene amounts of money. And look who the party anointed.
