Smith never forgot students of School 37

Carl DiPasquale

Story tools:

Randy Smith did student teaching at School 37. He was immediately accepted by the sixth-grade class he was assigned to teach. There were no discipline problems. The students were in awe.

The highlight of the experience was when Randy escorted the class to the gym. Twice a week, no student was absent on gym days. He emphasized physical and mental conditioning. After a vigorous warm-up, Randy would have a basketball clinic with every student participating. His rapport with the students was the best I’ve ever seen. He made every student feel good about themselves.

Randy never forgot the students of School 37. When he played for the Braves he sent us tickets to basketball games. Smith was one of a kind. He was the best.
