Dr. Frank H. Long Jr., delivered more than 5,000 babies

Dr. Frank H. Long, a retired obstetrician-gynecologist who delivered more than 5,000 babies, died Oct. 21 in Sisters Hospital. He was 87.
The Buffalo native was a graduate of Fosdick-Masten Park High School and Bethany College, and was part of the University of Buffalo Medical School Class of 1944. In his lengthy medical career, he delivered more than 5,000 area babies at Buffalo General Hospital, Women& Children’s Hospital and Kenmore Mercy Hospital.
Dr. Long enjoyed playing duplicate bridge and was a junior master member of the American Contract Bridge League. He also loved opera and travel and was a member of area arts and cultural organizations, including Albright-Knox Art Gallery and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.
Survivors include three daughters, Leslie Farley, Shelley Ruh and Amy Moore, and a dear friend, Jim Hinkler.
A memorial service was held last Friday.
