Paul F. Ehrenreich, bakery driver, volunteer

Story tools:

Feb. 14, 1918 — June 24, 2008

Paul F. Ehrenreich of Buffalo, who volunteered more than a quarter of a century delivering bread to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, died Tuesday in Buffalo General Hospital. He was 90.

Mr. Ehrenreich was born in Buffalo and lived his whole life in the city. He graduated from Canisius High School and served in the Army during World War II, first as an enlisted soldier and later as an officer.

He began working as a driver in 1936 at the old Hall Baking Co., which later became Continental Baking. He started out using a horse-drawn wagon before he began driving a truck for deliveries. He also worked as a salesman.

He worked for the company for 47 years before retiring.

After his retirement, Mr. Ehrenreich continued to deliver bread, but this time instead of bringing baked goods to area restaurants, he brought it to St. Vincent de Paul to feed the less fortunate three times a week.

He is survived by his wife, the former Helen Buettner; two daughters, Jean and Kathleen Ramos; and seven sons, Daniel, Thomas, Richard, Paul, Peter, Timothy and John.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a. m. Saturday in St. Benedict Catholic Church, 1317 Eggert Road, Eggertsville.
