Kenneth E. Strohmeyer, veteran justice of peace, councilman in Town of Persia

GOWANDA— Kenneth E. Strohmeyer, who served as a judge and councilman in the Town of Persia, died Thursday in TLC Health Network Lake Shore Campus. He was 69.

Born in Altoona, Pa., Mr. Strohmeyer worked in sales for the Gowanda Electronics Corp. for 42 years.

He served as justice of the peace in Persia for 27 years and received several certificates and accreditations. At the time of his death he was a member of the Persia Town Board and was a retired member of the New York State Magistrates Association. Mr. Strohmeyer was active in Trinity United Church of Christ, serving on the Church Council and also singing with the choir. He also sang with the King of Prussia Barbershoppers.

He was a member of Phoenix Lodge F&AM No. 262 and Gowanda Moose Lodge No. 1382. He served as president of the United Way Torch Club and was active in Boy Scouts, serving on many committees, councils and boards.

A Navy veteran, Mr. Strohmeyer was a member of Post 409, American Legion, and Post 5007, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, the former Annette L. “Ann” Thorn; two sons, Kenneth and Scott; two daughters, Susan Foy and Linda Baker; and a brother, David.

Services will be held at 11 a. m. Monday in Schindler Funeral Home, 44 Center St.
