Promoter accused of rigging contests
WHITE PLAINS (AP)—The promotions manager at the casino at Yonkers Raceway has been indicted on charges she arranged for friends and relatives to win contests.
Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore said Donna Cronin, 44, was charged with grand larceny and scheming to defraud.
She said Cronin and two codefendants at Empire City Gaming helped their acquaintances win money, flat-screen televisions, laptop computers and Broadway tickets.
The DA said the defendants told would-be winners when to be on certain slot machines with their “player’s card” inserted in the machine to win.
DiFiore said the integrity of the slot machines was not compromised.
