SUNY chief to get $90,000 for housing
ALBANY—The new chancellor of the State University of New York already has boosted her annual compensation package.
Nancy Zimpher will be paid an additional $90,000 a year in the form of a housing allowance. That brings her annual compensation to $635,000, which includes $490,000 in salary and retirement benefits of $55,400. She also receives a car and driver. The jump in pay came after Zimpher declined the use of the University residence in Manhattan, as well as the chancellor’s apartment in SUNY headquarters in Albany.
Zimpher took the helm of the 440,000-student system on June 1. SUNY provides chancellors a residence during their tenure. They receive the allowance if they choose their own housing.
