Story tools:

WADING RIVER (AP)—Police have arrested a 66-year-old Long Island man for driving while intoxicated after he was involved in a head-on car crash that killed another man.

The accident happened Saturday afternoon in Wading River. Suffolk County police say Michael Koss was driving a Jeep Cherokee westbound on Route 25A when he crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a Honda Civic.

The driver of the Honda, 61- year-old Edward Carr, and his 58-year-old passenger, Ilene Wasserman, were airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where Carr was pronounced dead. Wasserman is in critical condition.

Koss and his two passengers were also taken to Stony Brook, where they are in serious condition.

Police charged Koss with DWI. He will be arraigned at a later date.
