Second child dies of flu on Long Island
WOODMERE(AP)—The flu has apparently caused the death of a second Long Island child this season, Nassau County health officials said Monday.
The initial finding of Influenza A was made by the medical examiner in the death a 9- year-old Woodmere student, officials said. Conclusive laboratory test results are expected later this week.
The first death from the flu was confirmed in a 10-year-old Levittown child last month.
Flu symptoms include fever, headache, muscle aches, weakness, runny rose, sore throat and cough, and occasionally vomiting and diarrhea in children.
