Small faults may lead to big quake, study says
WHITE PLAINS (AP) — A study of recent earthquake activity around New York City says many small faults that were believed to be inactive could contribute to a major, disastrous earthquake.
Scientists from Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Observatory also detected a line of seismic activity stretching from Stamford, Conn., to Peekskill and coming within two miles of the Indian Point nuclear power plant.
