Star treatment

Having the gang over this holiday weekend? Here is an idea from Better Homes and Gardens for giving a serving tray a temporary makeover, July Fourth style:

Use a dab of royal icing to stick red and white sugar stars onto a tray (both icing and stars are available in the cake decorating aisle at crafts stores). Pile on silverware or cookies.

You can find recipes, crafts and other decorating ideas for the Fourth of July at www.BHG.com/july4.

Contest time

West Seneca residents need to get cracking if they plan to enter this year’s West Seneca in Bloom Contest.

Registration forms are available at the Charles E. Burchfield Nature & Art Center, 2001 Union Road; West Seneca Town Hall; West Seneca Library, or at www.thebnac.org where more information also is available.

Submission deadline is next Friday.
