The women’s golf division of Park Country Club of Buffalo will hold its annual Rally for the Cure tournament Tuesday at the club, followed by lunch on the terrace. There also will be a silent auction. Proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Eastern Erie Retired Teachers Association has awarded four scholarships to Western New York high school students, totaling $700. Winners and their school districts are: Kathryn Shriver of Alden Central, Emily Prychodko of East Aurora, Morgan Reisdorf of Holland Central and Jessica Shatzel of Iroquois Central.

Manning McCandlish of the New Century Women’s Club in Lockport, has won first place in the Western New York Federation of Women’s Clubs’ 2009 Creative Writing Contest, first place in the Greater Western Region contest, and third place at the club’s state level for her poem “Other Side.”

Loeta Werren of the Minerva Club in Sherman won second prize in the Western New York contest for her essay “On My Soapbox.” Also at the WNY level, Grace Jones of Women’s Civic League in Cattaraugus won second place in the prose category with her remembrances of holiday time.

Rhoda Zucker of Aurora’s Women’s Club, was elected president of the Western New York Federation of Women’s Clubs. She previously was third vice president. Others elected are: second vice president, Terri Haaf, Lancaster Women’s Civic League, third vice president, Nancy Bowen, Aurora’s Women’s Club.
