The Niagara Frontier Orchid Society will hold its annual orchid show from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. Saturday and Sunday at the Buffalo&Erie County Botanical Gardens, 2655 South Park Ave. (buffalogardens.com). Orchid displays, photo exhibit, growing demonstrations and vendors, free with Botanical Gardens admission. For information, call 835-2132.

East Aurora Garden Club will meet at noon Monday at St. Matthias Episcopal Church, 374 Main St. After lunch and a business meeting, Darlene Scott, owner of the Greenery in Arcade, will present a floral arrangement/ coordinating wreath demonstration.

The Niagara Falls and the River Region Chapter of Wild Ones Native Plants, Natural Landscapes and the Youngstown Garden Club will cohost a free lecture by Dr. Robert Speigelman on “Cooling Mother Earth: New York’s Footprint in Nature, Then and Now” at 7 p. m. Wednesday. The lecture, which will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 100 Church St., Youngstown, is made possible through the support of the New York Council for the Humanities, a state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
