The American Cancer Society has a free service for anyone who wishes to receive reminders to get particular health or cancer screenings. Research shows that if reminded, people are more likely to keep an appointment to get screened. To receive notices, register at

SOS Badge to Badge, an addiction recovery support group for law enforcement personnel, meets every Tuesday from 4:30 to 6 p. m. in the Center for Inquiry, 1310 Sweet Home Road, Amherst. The meeting is open to law enforcement and corrections officers only. Call 636-4869, Ext. 318.

Empty Leash sponsors a weekly pet-loss self-help support group at 5:30 p. m. every Thursday in Life Transitions Center, 150 Bennett Road, Cheektowaga. Attendees must register before attending first meeting; call Kym at 668-2446 or Sue at 656-0871.

US Too!, a support group of prostate cancer survivors, will meet from 7 to 9 p. m. next Tuesday in Room 301, Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. John M. The group has free speakers available for organizational meetings. The speakers provide current information on prostate cancer and stress the importance of being checked for the disease that affects one in six men in the United States. For information, contact Bill Krellner at 836-4761.
