“Take Control of Kidney Disease Through Knowledge,” a chronic kidney disease management class for those in the early stages of kidney disease, will be held at 9:30 a. m. Thursday in the National Kidney Foundation offices, 300 Delaware Ave., Suite 101. Taught by a registered dietitian, the 90-minute class covers kidney function, conditions that accompany chronic kidney disease, slowing the progression of the disease, maintaining a healthy attitude and nutrition and diet guidelines. The National Kidney Foundation Serving Western New York is offering free “Kidney Early Evaluation Program” (KEEP) screenings from 10 a. m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Elks Club, 428 Central Ave., Dunkirk. KEEP is for those 18 years old or older who have a parent or sibling who has diabetes, high blood pressure or kidney disease.
