The Cancer Wellness Center, which offers cancer patients and their loved ones access to education, encouragement and advocacy in a supportive environment, is offering its Cancer Coach Program to help those facing a cancer diagnosis. Volunteers who have survived cancer are eager to help cancer patients face their situation with renewed strength and courage. To request a coach, call 694-1395.

Transplants Save Lives of WNY, a support group for those awaiting transplants and their families, will meet at 7 p. m. Wednesday in St. Teresa Catholic Church, 1974 Seneca St., at Hayden Street. For information, call John McGrath at 825-7334.

A free medication evaluation clinic will be held from 9 a. m. to 3 p. m. Wednesday in the Schofield Adult Wellness Center, 3333 Elmwood Ave., Town of Tonawanda. Participants should bring their medications, in the original containers, and any over-the-counter medications that they have questions about. For necessary reservations, call 995-3851.

The McGuire Group’s Harris Hill Nursing Facility, 2699 Wehrle Drive, Lancaster, will host a training session on cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillator operations from 6 to 9 p. m. Thursday for those 14 and older. A $20 fee is required to receive Red Cross certification. Space is limited. To register, call 632-3700.

The National Kidney Foundation of WNY is offering free “kidney early evaluation program” screenings from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, 30 Park St, Albion. The program is for those who have a parent, grandparent or sibling who has diabetes, high blood pressure or kidney disease. Screenings include blood pressure and weight measurements, plus blood and urine tests to check for hypertension, diabetes and kidney disease. For an appointment or information, call 835-1323.

Honor and Hope Wellness Center, 38 Lake St., Hamburg, will show the movie, “The UltraMind Solution” at 11 a. m. Saturday. In the movie, Dr. Mark Hyman demonstrates how problems in biology can be pinpointed and repaired, allowing the body’s natural healing intelligence to take over. Dr. Margaret Mitchell will answer questions about fixing the body to fix the brain.

Free, anonymous screenings for depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, post traumatic stress disorder and postpartum depression will be offered from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. Monday at Mental Health Association of Erie County, 999 Delaware Ave. Participants will complete a brief questionnaire; learn the symptoms of depression and other mental health disorders, as well as how to help someone at risk; have an opportunity to talk one-in-one with a mental health professional; and receive free educational materials and referral for treatment. The Head and Neck Cancer Support Group will meet from 4:30 to 6 p. m. next Tuesday in the cafeteria, Meeting Room C, on the first floor at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Survivors of oral/head and neck cancer and their significant others are welcome. For information, call Amy Sumbrum at 845-4947.
