Meditation workshops

A free series, “Introduction to Mindfulness and Loving Kindness Meditation,” will be offered on four consecutive Tuesdays beginning Aug. 2 at Daemen College in Amherst.

Church marks 175th

SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 5480 Main St., Williamsville, will celebrate 175 years as a parish community with a 3 p.m. Mass on July 24.

Bishop Edward U. Kmiec will participate, along with the current pastor and three former pastors, including the Rev. Donald Trautman, bishop of the Diocese of Erie.

Decker to be ordained

Retired Erie County Sheriff’s Deputy Tim Decker will be ordained as a chaplain during a public celebration at 4 p.m. July 24 in the Greater Faith Temple Church, 480 Hickory St.

Decker is a 24-year veteran of the sheriff’s department.

Mission starts today

Annunciation Catholic Church, 7580 Clinton St., Elma, will host a mission today through next Saturday with the theme from the Gospel of John, “I am the light of the world.”

Each evening includes prayer, liturgy, scripture, song, fellowship and food.

Annulment workshop

An annulment-writing workshop will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. July 29 and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 30 in St. Pius Xparish center, 1700 N. French Road, Amherst.

The sessions are aimed at anyone needing help with the Catholic annulment process. A$20 registration fee includes snacks, lunch and supplies. Call Barbara Wyse at 633-7786 to register.

Remembering victims

Peaceprints Prison Ministries will hold its annual “Day of Pledging and Remembering” service at 2 p.m. July 30 in Ephesus Ministries, 341 Grider St.

The service, initiated by the late Sister Karen Klimczak, brings together community members and families and friends affected by homicide.

A ceremony honors and remembers homicide victims from the past year in the Buffalo area. Crosses bearing the name and memory of each victim will be placed in the Bissonette Peace Park, and community members will pledge to become nonviolent.
