The Beechwood Service Guild will open its 2009-10 season with a meeting at noon Sept. 9 in the auditorium at Beechwood Residence, Getzville. A free will luncheon to benefit the guild’s Sunshine Fund will follow at 12:30 p. m. All church representatives, Guild members and friends of Beechwood are invited.

The Western New York Federation of Women’s Clubs has awarded scholarships to Amanda Dickerman of East Amherst and Melissa Williams of Bliss.

Dickerman is majoring in special education/childhood education at Daemen College and is working on certification for a specialization in literacy in grades 1 to 6. She also is a teacher at the Childtime Learning Center in Williamsville. She was sponsored by the Buffalo Federation of Women’s Clubs.

Williams, who completed two years at Genesee Community College, will attend Buffalo State College, where she will continue her studies to become an art teacher for gradesKto

12. She was sponsored by the Holland Fern Leaf Reading Club, WNYFWC.
