Annual German Mass

Canisius College will host its annual German Christmas Mass at 10 a. m. Dec. 6 in Christ the King Chapel.

A concert of German Christmas music will precede the Mass, which will be celebrated by the Rev. Daniel P. Jamros in German. For details, call 888-2835.

Christmas Advent concert

The Pan-Orthodox Choir will perform a Christmas Advent concert at 7 p. m. Friday in St. Stephen Serbian Orthodox Church, 177 Weber Road, Lackawanna. The Rev. Herman Schick will provide commentary.

Intelligent design lecture

“Defending Design: The Scientific Case Against Evolution,” a lecture by John Sanford, professor of genetics and horticulture at Cornell University, will be held from 3 to 5 p. m. next Saturday in Room 145 of the Student Union on the University at Buffalo’s North Campus.

Sanford, who testified on behalf of intelligent design at the Kansas Board of Education hearings, will argue that biological life is the creation of a divine designer.

Vespers service set

First Trinity Lutheran Church, 1570 Niagara Falls Boulevard, Town of Tonawanda, will host the 54th annual Christmas Candlelight Vespers service at 4 p. m. and at 7 p. m. Dec. 6, featuring a candlelight procession. A freewill offering will be accepted.

Nun to speak at luncheon

Sister Carole Shinnick of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious will be guest speaker at the 22nd annual Retirement Fund for the Religious luncheon at noon Friday in the Hyatt Regency Buffalo, Two Fountain Plaza.

Tickets are $20. Call 854-2211 for reservations.

Family Life Mass

Bishop Edward U. Kmiec of the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo will celebrate a Family Life Mass at 10:30 a. m. on Dec. 6 in St. Joseph Cathedral, 50 Franklin St.

A blessing and reception will follow the Mass.
