Holiday celebration
True Bethel Baptist Church, 907 E. Ferry St., will be the host site for the 27th annual Multifaith Thanksgiving Celebration at 7 p. m. Tuesday.
The theme is “We Give Thanks During Challenging Times.”
Donations of nonperishable foods are requested and a reception will follow the service, sponsored by the National Federation for Just Communities and the Network of Religious Communities.
Chaplains ordained
Seven new chaplains will be ordained during a ceremony from 2 to 5 p. m. today in Dayspring Church of God of Prophecy, 2628 Bailey Ave.
Tommy Davis, chief chaplain of Chaplain Fellowship Ministry International, New York, will be the speaker.
Chaplains from the nonprofit organization minister in police and fire departments, jails, prisons, federal agencies, hospitals, nursing homes and a variety of other venues.
Pastor’s anniversary
Delaware Avenue Baptist Church, 965 Delaware Ave., will celebrate the second anniversary of the church’s pastor, the Rev. Michael J. Robinson, with a special worship service at 11 a. m. Nov. 29.
The Rev. Joe L. Fisher of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church will be guest speaker.
Nurse to speak
Magnificat, a ministry to Catholic women, will welcome Kelley Clem as guest speaker at the upcoming meal from 9:30 a. m. to 12:30 p. m. Dec. 12 in Creekside Banquet Facility, 2669 Union Road, Cheektowaga.
Clem is a registered nurse and clinical educator in the “Caring Hearts” ministry for Hospice Buffalo. Cost is $15 and includes breakfast. Reservations must be made by Dec. 4. Call (585) 457-3146 or 773-5976.
Ecumenical services
Two area churches will host ecumenical Thanksgiving services at 7 p. m. Tuesday.
Crossroads Lutheran Church, 4640 Main St., Amherst, will be the site of the Eggerstville- Snyder Ministerium annual community service, with the Rev. Dan Hoffman of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church as speaker. Nonperishable food donations will be given to the food pantry at University Presbyterian Church.
The annual Elma Community Thanksgiving Eve Service will be held in St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 5271 Clinton St. Nonperishable food donations will go to FISH of East Aurora.
40th anniversary Mass
A Mass of Celebration will be held at 10 a. m. Sunday in St. Rose of Lima Church at Parkside and Parker avenues, marking the 40th anniversary of the ordination of the Rev. Patrick Elis, parish administrator. A dessert reception will be held from 1 to 3 p. m. in the school hall.
Tribute to monsignor
A tribute to the late Monsignor Richard T. Nugent, longtime pastor of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Orchard Park, will be held at 7 p. m. Dec. 1 in Hilbert College’s William E. Swan Auditorium.
The event, co-sponsored by Hilbert and St. Bernadette’s Church, will include readings from Nugent’s recently published book, “Spiritual Reflections II.”
Advent healing Mass
“Waiting for Healing” is the theme for an Advent healing Mass at 7 p. m. Dec. 2 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 263 Claremont Ave., Town of Tonawanda.
Celebrant will be the Rev. Bill Quinlivan. There will be veneration of a relic of St. Maria Faustina.
