Our Lady of Charity Parish will hold a “college weekend” at all Masses next Saturday and Aug. 18, with special prayers for parishioners, relatives and friends who will be in college this coming academic year.
A prayer board will be available where parishioners can write the names of college students, and there will be prayer leaflets with special prayers for college students. Parishioners can take the leaflets and pass them along to collegians. Information about Catholic colleges also will be available.
Our Lady of Charity Parish has two worship sites, St. Ambrose Church, 65 Ridgewood Road, and Holy Family Church, 1901 South Park Ave.
St. Luke’s Anglican Church will mark its 10th anniversary at 9 a.m. Sunday, with a service featuring special music and Bishop William H. Ilgenfritz of the Missionary Diocese of All Saints as celebrant. A catered barbecue lunch will follow.
St. Luke’s meets at First Baptist Church, 591 Porterville Road, East Aurora.
Registrations are now being accepted for fall sessions of Women in God’s Spirit, or WINGS, a women’s Bible study group that meets in the school building of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church at the corner of Aurora and St. Joseph streets in the Village of Lancaster.
Under the guidance of the Rev. Paul Steller, the group studied the biblical figure of Esther last year. This year’s sessions will focus on the theme of “Jonah: Navigating a Life Interrupted.”
Members of the group are not limited to parishioners of St. Mary Church. Women interested in becoming part of the group may call the rectory at 683-6445. A $25 fee will cover the cost of study guides and videos.
