Wanted: Ideas about family holiday fun

Refresh is looking for ideas about activities families can do together during the upcoming holiday break.

Niagara Hospice offers grief program

Niagara Hospice will present a program on dealing with grief during the holidays.

The “Grief Never Takes a Holiday” program is free and will take place at 2 p.m. next Saturday at Otto Redanz Funeral Home, 2215 Military Road, Town of Niagara.

Hosted by funeral home owner Mike Goodlander, the talk will also be about preparing for the holidays in times of grief, communicating with family and friends and honoring a loved one on holidays. Time for questions will follow.

Great Lakes opens new imaging center

Great Lakes Medical Imaging, formerly Northtowns Imaging, recently opened its largest imaging center at 199 Park Club Lane in Williamsville.

The facility’s new 1.2 Open High Field MRI offers a faster, more accurate and comfortable MRI experience. In addition, the center offers PET CT scans, nuclear medicine, bariatric fluoroscopy, X-ray, ultrasound, bone densitometry, pediatric imaging and a full women’s imaging center, including breast MRI and diagnostic biopsy capability.

The new facility will serve as the flagship location for Great Lakes Medical Imaging, which also has locations in Cheektowaga, Orchard Park, Amherst and Cambria.

Aquarium offers ornament contest

The Aquarium of Niagara is holding an ornament contest. The ornaments must be made from recycled or repurposed materials.

The winner will win an original piece of artwork from one of the aquarium’s penguins or sea lions.

Immunization info is now automated

HEALTHeLINK, a Western New York clinical information exchange, recently launched an automated immunization reporting Web service for its participating providers. Elmwood Health Center became the first practice to submit immunization data to the state Immunization Information System through this automated method.
