Sandra Barlow is a Cornell Cooperative Extension of Erie County nutrition educator for Eat Smart NY, part of a federally funded educational effort for people of all ages on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, formerly the food stamp program.

Barlow, 52, of Cheektowaga, and her co-workers teach low-income residents from across the county how to eat better for less, using demonstrations and handouts at schools, after-school programs and community centers. She will give out healthy eating brochures, make smoothies and raffle off blenders from noon to 3 p.m. today during the Gerard Place Health Fair at Bailey and Delaware avenues. Health screenings, lunches and garage sale items – all free – also will be offered during the health fair.
