For fans of indie and alternative music, listening to the same old songs most radio stations play over and over can get extremely boring. An FM radio station playing a wide diversity of unique music is something that big fans of music in the Buffalo area have wanted for a long time. On Sept. 25, those prayers were answered.
The new station, 107.7 Alternative Buffalo, plays everything alternative, from old-school ’90s grunge bands like Pearl Jam and Nirvana to modern electronic rock artists MGMT and AWOLNATION. Such a wide diversity of music in one station gives listeners a chance to hear songs from well-known favorites like Green Day and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, as well as experience music they may have never heard before, from lesser known, more underground groups like Grouplove and Bastille.
Fans of pop music also will enjoy this station because it plays more mainstream indie acts such as Mumford & Sons and Foster the People. Another fantastic thing about 107.7 is that it plays virtually no commercials. Someone with a half-hour drive to work or school can enjoy the entire ride hearing nothing but great music.
