Rock ’n’ roll will never die, and there has come a band that will continue the hard-core legacy. The Pretty Reckless released its second album, “Going to Hell,” recently, sounding more edgy, electric and grunge than ever. The alternative metal band originated in New York City in 2007 and played on the Warped Tour in 2010.

Popular songs that have emerged from the new album include “Going to Hell,” “Heaven Knows” and “Follow Me Down.” The album discusses feeling invincible and being stronger than your demons, questions authority, and deals with being unable to escape flaws and mistakes. The band also wrote four soft-core songs on this album that reveal secrets and memories from childhood – “House on a Hill,” “Burn,” “Dear Sister” and “Waiting For a Friend.” The band’s forte isn’t usually slower, softer music, but on this album it succeeds at trying the new sound.

There also are acoustic versions of two of the songs on the album – “Going to Hell” and “Sweet Things.”

You may recognize the lead singer of the Pretty Reckless from the show “Gossip Girl” and the movies “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” and “Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams.” Her name is Taylor Momsen, and she’s shaking things up in Hollywood. Halfway through her time spent on “Gossip Girl,” she drastically changed her style from the girl-next-door wearing pink skirts and dresses to grunge leather jackets and ripped stockings with heavy makeup. A lot of critics have been judging her appearance and her music, but nothing keeps her down. She doesn’t view herself as a role model, but she wants to set an example for other girls to not conform to society’s molds.
