This is your conscience speaking: It’s not too late to send thank-you notes for holiday gifts, Christmas Eve open houses or New Year’s Day brunches. Yes, you may prefer to do it via email or phone call, but so many people enjoy receiving a handwritten note. Or perhaps you have resolved to send more notes in 2014. Either way, if it’s a fun design you’re after, the selection is vast and widely available. Here is a sampling of some we have seen in local gift shops, supermarkets and from other retailers.

Local attraction: These two designs, hand silkscreened in Buffalo, are part of the card collection by Great Arrow Graphics, $3.95 each. The line is sold locally, including at Lexington Co-operative Market, Talking Leaves bookstores and select Wegmans, and at (where a box of eight sells for $14.95).

Greener choice: Note from Green Inspired is printed on FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)-certified paper with soy inks. A box of 10 notes and envelopes sells for $3.99 at Target; the inside is blank.

Thank ewe!: That’s the message on this locally made card, made even cuter with a ribbon. It sells for $4.75 at Village ARTisans, 5560 Main St., Williamsville. The inside is blank.

Field day: Another card from Avanti, $2.99, spreads a little sunshine and opens to read: “A million and one thanks.” Visit for availability and company information.

Go nuts!: Count on this critter to get your point across. Inside message: “Good fortune is a friend like you!” Priced $2.99. See for stores that sell Avanti cards.
