Britney gets Vegas gig
Britney Spears is heading to Las Vegas.
The 31-year-old pop star confirmed a two-year residency at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Tuesday. “Britney: Piece of Me” will debut Dec. 27. Spears announced 16 dates, but she will perform 50 shows each in 2014 and 2015.
Spears was in the Nevada desert for the announcement with more than 1,000 fans. Some dressed in the singer’s signature schoolgirl look from her “... Baby One More Time” music video.
The Grammy-winning singer’s confirmation about the residency comes months after rumors swirled online. She said in an interview on “GMA” that the show will feature her greatest hits as well as new material.
“I’m definitely ready,” she said in a taped interview, adding that she’s training five hours each day..
Tickets for “Britney: Piece of Me” go on sale Sept. 20. Prices range from $59 to $179.
Fox News shuffle
Fox News Channel is shuffling its prime-time lineup for the first time in more than a decade.
The network said Tuesday that Megyn Kelly’s new prime-time show will debut at 9 p.m. Eastern next month. Sean Hannity, who currently occupies that time slot, will move his show to 10 p.m.
Greta Van Susteren is getting an earlier start: Her nightly show will move from 10 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Cable news’ most popular personality, Bill O’Reilly, will stay at 8 p.m. for his show.
‘Mad Men’ splits final season
AMC is keeping “Mad Men” around an extra year, expanding the final season of this acclaimed drama series to 14 episodes and portioning them equally in 2014 and 2015.
The network said Tuesday that seven episodes will air next spring and another seven in 2015. Previous “Mad Men” seasons have spanned 13 episodes.
Series creator Matthew Weiner said the two-part season will enable “a more elaborate story” to be told.
The arrangement mirrors that of another AMC series, “Breaking Bad,” whose final season, now nearing its end, was similarly split in two.
Bullock moves forward
It’s been three years since Sandra Bullock split from her husband Jesse James but she has no desire to go backward and examine what happened, especially not publicly.
Days after Bullock won the Best Actress Oscar for “The Blind Side,” tabloids reported James had cheated on her.
She reacted swiftly, by going under the radar and filing for divorce.
Now she tells Vogue, “We’re all where we’re supposed to be” and “I’m grateful that I’m here, blessed to have what I have.”
What Bullock has is a three-year-old son named Louis who she adopted in January 2010, in the middle of awards season. She managed to keep him a secret for the first few months of his life.
Vogue’s Oct. issue hits the news stands on Sept. 24.
