Spade at work on memoir
There is more to David Spade than the catchphrase “Buh-Bye.”
Dey Street Books announced Monday that the actor and comedian is working on a memoir scheduled to come out in fall 2015. Its title has not been released.
According to Dey Street, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers, Spade will write about everything from his childhood to his friendship with the late comedian Chris Farley.
Spade plans to cover his years on “Saturday Night Live,” such films as “Tommy Boy” and his TV series “Just Shoot Me” and “Rules of Engagement.” He will even, apparently, relate what he calls his “epic tale” of losing his virginity.
In a statement, Spade offers a self-review for his book: It’s a “must” buy and a “maybe” read.
Nyong’o joins ‘Star Wars’ cast
Three months after winning an Oscar, Lupita Nyong’o is going to a galaxy far, far away.
The Walt Disney Co. announced Monday that Nyong’o is joining the cast of “Star Wars: Episode VII.”
The 31-year-old actress became a breakthrough star for her award-winning performance in “12 Years a Slave.”
Also added to the cast was Gwendoline Christie, best known for playing the hulking Brienne of Tarth on HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”
The movie, directed by J.J. Abrams, is scheduled to open in December 2015.
Pitt prankster pleads out
The ex-journalist who was arrested after jostling with Brad Pitt at a film premiere last week said Monday he was merely trying to give the actor a hug and didn’t mean him any harm.
Vitalii Sediuk, a former Ukrainian television reporter, told the Associated Press that was in a fan area of the event that was open to the public when he went in to give the actor a hug.
Sediuk, 25, has gained a reputation for outlandish pranks on red carpets in Moscow, Los Angeles and last month, at the Cannes Film Festival, when he crawled underneath America Ferrera’s dress at a film premiere.
After his contact with Pitt on Wednesday, he spent two days in jail before pleading no contest to battery and unlawful activity.
On Friday, he was sentenced to three years of probation and a year of psychiatric counseling.
Osteen gets Sirius channel
Texas pastor Joel Osteen is getting his own channel on SiriusXM satellite radio, which will air his sermon at Yankee Stadium this Saturday live nationally.
Osteen, who preaches to 40,000 people each week at Houston’s Lakewood megachurch, already shows his messages on the Trinity television network.
The new SiriusXM channel will feature live call-in shows hosted by Osteen and his wife, fellow Lakewood pastor Victoria Osteen, along with rebroadcasts of Osteen’s sermons from the past.
SiriusXM said Monday that it will announce later when Osteen’s new channel will begin operation.
