Nyong’o tops People’s list
People magazine has named Lupita Nyong’o as the “World’s Most Beautiful” for 2014.
The 31-year-old actress, who won a best supporting actress Oscar for her role in “12 Years a Slave,” tops the magazine’s list, announced Wednesday.
Commenting on being selected for this year’s cover, Nyong’o says: “It was exciting and just a major, major compliment. I was happy for all the girls who would see me on it and feel a little more seen.”
Foster ties the knot
Jodie Foster is a married woman.
A representative for the Oscar-winning actress confirms that Foster wed girlfriend Alexandra Hedison over the weekend. Publicist Jennifer Allen offered no other details Wednesday.
E! was the first to report that Foster tied the knot with Hedison, a 44-year-old photographer based in Los Angeles.
Foster publicly came out in a rambling, heartfelt speech at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards, where the 51-year-old acknowledged longtime partner Cydney Bernard, with whom she has two sons. The couple ended their 20-year relationship in 2008.
Foster previously thanked her partner at other Hollywood events but kept her sexuality private.
E! says Foster and Hedison have been dating since last summer.
Barbie movie in the works
Barbie is coming alive.
Sony Pictures, Mattel and Parkes+MacDonald/Image Nation have partnered to create a live-action movie focused on the iconic doll.
The companies said Wednesday the comedy will be written by Jenny Bicks (“What a Girl Wants”) and produced by husband and wife team Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald (“Men in Black 3”).
Executive producers will be Parkes+MacDonald president Marc Resteghini and Julia Pistor for Mattel’s Playground Productions.
Sony sees the film as a global franchise and plans to go into production by the end of the year.
It’s the second collaboration for Sony and Mattel. The companies are currently developing the film adaptation of “Masters of the Universe,” based on Mattel action figures.
A laughing matter
Kate Upton doesn’t need a hunk or a fellow celeb for a boyfriend: She just wants someone who can make her laugh.
“I look for someone with a sense of humor and someone I could be myself with,” the gorgeous Sports Illustrated model-turned-actress told E! News.
E! caught up with Upton, 21, at the premiere of her new flick, “The Other Woman,” which centers on a cheating husband named Mark (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and the women who exact revenge on him: his wife (Leslie Mann) and his two mistresses (Cameron Diaz and Upton).
“I’ve never personally heard a story like this,” Upton said. “Hopefully no men relate to the character of Mark.”
If anyone does, however, “You really need to re-evaluate your life because we created a character who is pathological,” Upton added.
