The Albright-Knox Art Gallery has named a new public art curator.

Aaron Ott, who is currently based in Chicago, will be in charge of developing public art projects throughout Erie County to bring artwork beyond the museum’s footprint.

Ott has been working as an independent curator, writer and art preparator in the greater Chicago area.

Janne Siren, the gallery’s director, said the Albright-Knox was impressed with Ott’s “dynamism, intelligence and engagement with public art.”

He earned a bachelor’s in fine arts in photography from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning. He holds a master’s degree in museum and exhibition studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago’s College of Architecture, Design and the Arts, and was designated the Illinois Museum Studies Graduate Student of the Year in 2012 by the Illinois Association of Museums.
